Blood and Water - loved ones in the lens of nine photographers.

Exhibition Niektórzy myśląże jesteśmy brzydcy (Some people think that we're nasty) touches upon intimate, personal themes, invoking family - which in this case means something more than just blood ties.

Each of nine photographers will present a book prepared especially for this project. Their diversity manifests itself not only in themes of individual publications, but also in approach to the issues connected with this form of presenting photos. These albums are the core of this exhibition, which also consists of regular, classic prints and slips. Ania Kukuła, Justyna Fedec, Katarzyna Pietrzak-Zawada, Tomasz Płonka, Iwona Jarosz, Thomas Schostok and Joanna Wojtuś were invited to cooperate on designs of albums.

The title of the exhibition - Niektórzy myślą że jesteśmy brzydcy (Some people think that we're nasty) - is an ambiguous wordplay, which may be interpreted on many levels. On the one hand it speaks about the presented photographs, about their vision - often aesthetically dirty, thematically very "unpleasant" at times. On the other hand this is also a tale of people who are not pretty and perfect. The are caught in photo frames in strange, grotesque poses - cracked and broken. Through their works the artists are revealing complex emotions, often too difficult and unpleasant to be expressed in technically and compositionally correct picture. This is also a tale about Poles, people from the blocks / housing estates, lovers and love disappointments, cats, dogs, and about all this we call "Family".

Filip Zawada - one of the curators and simultaneously one of the photographers taking part in the exhibition - says with defiance about this project: Some people say that I was, at times, some kind of electric fence for all of them. I don't think that's true, because if we compare all photographers from the exhibition to farm animals, then it's obvious that each of them graze on different pastures.
